The LPRCA is continuously seeking ways to promote the Lower Platte River and grow interest in the myriad of opportunities the river provides as well as the various aspects of concern surrounding the ecological stability of the River as surrounding communities continue to grow, use, and rely on the river for everything from recreation to drinking water.
In an effort to engage local communities and promote the Lower Platte River, the LPRCA holds several annual outreach events and hopes to add more as opportunities present themselves.

This year's planned Platte River Cleanup scheduled for October 12th was cancelled due to cool weather and high water. The event is part of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Clean-up to divert trash out of our waterways and ultimately reaching our oceans. The event was also cancelled last year because of weather and water levels. The first cleanup was held in 2016 with 20 volunteers participating. We will look to plan a 2019 River Cleanup event with Keep Cass County Beautiful and spread the word once the date has been scheduled.
